Spencer is a Senior Associate on Capstone’s US Financial Services team. He advises private equity, corporate, and hedge fund clients on a wide range of policy- and regulatory-driven investment opportunities within the financial services sector. His coverage spans real estate investment trusts (REITs), real estate software, government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) reform, real estate brokerage, commercial real estate, insurance distribution, and wealth management, among others.
Prior to joining Capstone, Spencer worked at a west coast law firm specialized in complex litigation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). During his undergraduate, he interned in the US House of Representatives covering House Financial Services Committee affairs with a focus on housing and capital markets-related policy and led his university’s student-managed investment fund overseeing the strategy, and growth of the fund’s ~$4.5M portfolio comprised of equity investments across 11 sectors with a focus on technology and real estate. He also spent one year of his undergraduate in Brussels, Belgium studying internal finance and economics.
Spencer holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and a minor in economics from Washington State University. Originally from San Diego, California, he now resides in Arlington, Virginia.
