Rt Hon Ruth Kelly is a former Member of Parliament for Bolton West (1997-2010). During her time in Parliament, she held UK various government positions in the Blair and Brown governments, including serving in the Cabinet as Education Secretary, Transport Secretary and Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. Before that she also was minister for the City of London in HM Treasury and minister in the Cabinet Office. After leaving politics, Ruth held positions at HSBC Global Asset Management and subsequently at St Mary’s University. She is currently Chair of Water UK, the trade body representing UK water companies, and is Chair of Thames Freeport, the economic zone north of the Thames Estuary. She also serves on the Board of Heathrow Airport and chairs its Audit Committee. Ruth is also Lead Independent Director of Gorilla Technology Group. She has also held roles on the Boards of National Grid and of the Financial Conduct Authority.
