Alexander Slater

Managing Director

Alexander Slater is a Managing Director in Capstone’s Corporate Practice. Working out of Washington, DC, he focuses on financial services and national security issues, helping businesses and investors in Canada, India, and the US deploy capital based on the direction and financial impact of developments in these regions.

Prior to joining Capstone, Alexander served as the Managing Director of the Chamber of Commerce’s US-India Business Council in New Delhi. He was the face of the US Chamber in India for five years, regularly engaging with Cabinet officials, senior bureaucrats, and legislators from both countries. Alexander also served as a trusted adviser to C-suite executives and as a public commentator in print and television media on US-India strategic, financial, and commercial partnerships.

Alexander has served as a speechwriter and adviser to the president of the World Bank Group, a Senior Financial Officer in the World Bank Treasury, and a Foreign Policy Adviser and Speechwriter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. A practicing lawyer for seven years, Alexander counseled Fortune 100 companies on white-collar matters and foreign investment at O’Melveny & Myers LLP and clerked for Judge Barrington Parker on the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. 

He holds degrees in history, law, and international relations from Yale, Harvard, and Oxford, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar.
