Alexander Slater

Managing Director

Alexander Slater is a Managing Director in Capstone’s Corporate Practice. Working out of Washington, DC, he focuses on financial services and national security issues, helping businesses and investors in Canada, India and the United States deploy capital based on the direction and financial impact of developments in these areas.

Prior to joining Capstone, Alexander served as the Managing Director of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S-India Business Council in New Delhi. For five years, he was the face of the U.S. Chamber in India; regularly engaged with cabinet officials, senior bureaucrats and legislators from both countries; and served as a trusted advisor to C-Suite executives and public commentator in print and television media on the U.S.-India strategic, financial and commercial partnership.

Alexander has served as a speechwriter and advisor to the President of the World Bank Group, a Senior Financial Officer in the World Bank Treasury, and a foreign policy advisor and speechwriter to U.S. Senator Charles Schumer. A practicing lawyer for seven years, he counseled Fortune 100 companies on white collar matters and foreign investment at O’Melveny & Myers and clerked for Judge Barrington Parker on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. 

He holds degrees in history, law and international relations from Yale, Harvard and Oxford, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar.
