Sebastiaan Bierens


Sebastiaan joined Capstone in 2016 and is a director on the London financial services team. At Capstone, Sebastiaan is the lead analyst on European and UK insurance regulation, covering all prudential and conduct of business issues for insurance underwriters and brokers. In addition, he covers international and European tax developments impacting fund and corporate tax optimization structures, as well as financial market infrastructure regulation. Prior to joining Capstone, he spent his career working at the Bank of England’s Prudential Regulation Authority focussing on the banking capital adequacy framework and UK leverage ratio. During his time at the BoE, he represented the UK in the European Banking Authority’s technical subgroup on own funds. He also worked at the London School of Economics as a research assistant on several topics relating to financial law and regulation. Sebastiaan holds a Masters of Law in Banking Law and Financial Regulation from the London School of Economics and a Masters of Law in European and International Law from the Catholic University of Leuven.
