Alumni Profile

Jackie Davey, Capital One

In this alumni profile, we interview Jackie Davey, former Capstone Financial Services Analyst.

A Style All Her Own

Jackie Davey is always among the first to step up and help out. At Capstone, she generously gave her time and resources to The Homeless Children’s Playtime Project, brought her bakes to social events, and pitched in to spread the word on voter education.

Jackie is now giving her all as a strategic intelligence senior associate at Capital One, where she is part of a four-person team that produces executive communications and strategic planning that align with the CEO’s vision. Her job description sounds a bit daunting, but Jackie takes it in stride. “The CEO likes to say we work back from where the world is going to develop our forward-thinking strategies,” she says.

Jackie has fond memories of her volunteer work with Playtime while she was at Capstone, and she has carried this positive experience with her.

Strategic intelligence involves messaging, special projects, and strategic goals in yearly plans. It’s “a bit of everything,” Jackie says, including market research, navigating policy changes, following competitor earnings, and facilitating annual regulatory deliverables. “We’re also addressing AI, late-fee policies, and more. It’s a very cool team to be on,” she says. “I didn’t appreciate how dynamic the job would be when I applied.”

Jackie and her team at Capital One also work on four strategic half-day events that the CEO presents annually to vice presidents and higher, senior directors, interns, and regulators. She prepped for the regulator presentation this year, drawing on her experience at Capstone.

Jackie believes she was able to hone her public speaking skills at Capstone, where she also shared her feedback on Half-Baked Harvest recipes and picks and tips on restyling J Crew. As a senior associate on the financial services team, she provided policy research and regulatory due diligence for capital markets, private equity, and corporate clients, focusing on consumer finance issues.

Jackie has fond memories of her volunteer work with Playtime while she was at Capstone, and she has carried this positive experience with her to Capital One, where she’s a member of the department’s volunteer committee. She’s also part of the Reading All-Stars, spending two hours on Saturdays during the school year to help a six-year-old develop and strengthen her reading skills.

Strategy, service, and style are all in a day’s work for Jackie and she finds her job at Capital One energizing. “The people are phenomenal and kind. I’ve been lucky to have this in all three of my jobs,” she says.
