Benjamin R. Gilbert joined Capstone as Vice President for Content Strategy, Senior Editor, and Supervisory Analyst in January 2026. Before joining Capstone, Ben worked as a reporter and editor, most recently at Vice News in Brooklyn. While living and working in Beirut, Lebanon, he oversaw editorial operations at several regional digital and print news publications. During this period, he also reported on security, geopolitics, and conflict in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Egypt and beyond for the daily BBC/PRI international affairs program, The World, and business and economic news for public radio’s Marketplace. Prior to his time in the Middle East and New York, Ben produced and reported for NPR in Washington, D.C.
Ben studied journalism at Boston University, sociology at Earlham College, and international economics, national security, and Arabic at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and lives in Washington.
