Makenzy joined Capstone in 2021 and is a Director on the firm’s US Financial Services team. She advises domestic private equity, corporate, and hedge fund clients on policy driven investment opportunities across the financial services sector. She advises clients on policy issues across the mortgage and real estate landscape including government-sponsored entity (GSE) reform, mortgage insurance, mortgage servicing, affordable housing, COVID-19 housing assistance, real estate brokerage, and commercial real estate. She also advises clients on policy issues impacting markets and US exchanges, including market structure reform and gamification.

Prior to joining Capstone, Makenzy worked at Fannie Mae as a counterparty risk analyst covering over 200 banks, mortgage banks, and credit unions. During this time, Makenzy gained valuable experience conducting detailed credit reviews to identify key risks related to financials, business, industry, and transactions to determine the creditworthiness of and manage the financial exposure to Fannie Mae’s counterparties. Prior to this, Makenzy worked as an equity research analyst at FBR Capital Markets covering companies across the banking, mortgage financing, and mortgage and equity REITs sectors. During this time, she also collaborated with Washington policy analysts to advise clients on key policy trends in the financial services and energy sectors.

Makenzy graduated from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management with a B.S. in finance and entrepreneurial business and a minor in international relations. She is originally from Seattle and now lives in Washington, DC.
