Charlie is the Deputy Head of Private Markets. He advises corporate and private markets clients across Capstone’s universe of coverage areas. Since joining the firm in 2019, Charlie has led or played a major role in dozens of strategy and due diligence engagements for Capstone’s corporate and private equity clients—focusing specifically on the energy transition; environmental, social, and governance (ESG); infrastructure; consumer finance; tax; and business services. He leads engagements in the tax policy space that analyze existing policy and proposed tax reforms that impact business service providers, individual and business tax preparation firms, and businesses that rely on tax credits and incentives.

Prior to joining Capstone, Charlie worked in management consulting serving public sector clients and focusing on financial management and supply chain optimization. As a graduate student, he served in two roles at the US Department of the Treasury—one focusing on consumer finance research and the other on Middle East fiscal and trade policy. As an undergraduate, Charlie also  worked in the press office at the US Department of State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs.

Charlie holds an M.A. in international affairs and economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies with a concentration in energy, resources, and environment and a specialization in international finance. He graduated from Georgetown University with a B.S. in Foreign Service. Since 2018, Charlie has volunteered with Community Tax Aid providing no-cost bilingual tax preparation services to low-income taxpayers in Washington, DC. Originally from Minnesota, Charlie lives in Washington, DC.
