Each month, Capstone shares the latest actions against Big Tech platforms–including Facebook, Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft–that investors should monitor.
In this antitrust update, we assess the implications of the steady stream of complaints against Microsoft’s cloud business over the last year and the likely reaction from European regulators. We also evaluate the outlook in the second half of the year for ongoing US antitrust action against Alphabet Inc.’s Google (GOOGL), as well as the status of pending litigation and federal legislation that would negatively impact the Big Tech platforms. Other antitrust cases against Apple Inc. (AAPL), and Meta Platforms Inc. (FB) are also advancing, but material developments beyond headline risks are not expected until late summer as well. Federal lawmakers are working on legislation, though they will face growing headwinds in the coming months as the desire to pass comprehensive measures is waning fast as House and Senate leaders appear to lack the votes to pass anything.
