Europe

The European Union is often considered to have the most extensive and complex laws and regulations. To closely monitor regulatory trends and identify actionable investment opportunities, Capstone opened its London office in September 2016. Our London-based experts produce in-depth comprehensive policy research and build context around policy trends on the European and Member State level. In addition, we rigorously identify and quantify regulatory and political risks and opportunities to specific private equity transactions.

The London team focuses predominately on financial services regulation as well as business services. In doing so, we track legislation and guidance from the earliest states until the implementation phase. Next to local expertise, Capstone has a network of partners across Europe. Our expert contacts include former regulators, lobbyists, consultants and law firms in key European jurisdictions. We leverage these relationships to arrange conversations with the right people "on-the-ground". Through our continued analysis of European and domestic rules and regulations, we have built strong relationships with international organizations, European legislators, European and domestic supervisory authorities, and a broad spectrum of stakeholders throughout the EU including think tanks, trade associations, lobbyists and acdemics.
